Barbara Klessig

Biography: 

Barb is an archaeologist, specializing in textiles, burials, experimental/experiential archaeology, the archaeology of gender and household, landscape and environmental archaeology in Europe, Scandinavia and the British Islands. She has been involved in Cultural Resource Management off and on for approximately 13 years, in the San Francisco Bay area, Sacramento Valley and Sierra Foothills. After receiving her undergraduate degree in Anthropology/Archaeology (2007) and a masters in Environment & Community (2015) from Cal Poly Humboldt, she started lecturing at Humboldt and has been on faculty part-time for the past 8 years. She is also the co-director, under Dr. Marisol Cortes-Rincon-Director, of the Geospatial Archaeology Research Center (GARC). She is currently working on her PhD through the University of Exeter, UK where she is developing her thesis on textile production tools made of bone and antler.
